As many of you know, Steve Huntington was a longtime fan and supporter of The Habitat. At this special show, we will honor him and unveil a wonderful new addition to The Habitat in his memory. Even if you are not able to attend Steve’s celebration of life on September 13th, we hope you’ll join us here. Some of his family will be present, making it a wonderful time to share stories.
Please RSVP as early as possible — we expect to reach capacity quickly.

About Aaron and John

Aaron…

Heartbreak proved to be a lucrative career move for songwriter and producer Aaron Scherz, who landed his first No. 1 hit with the gold-certified single “Girl In a Country Song” by Dot Records duo Maddie & Tae. “I decided to be a songwriter because a girl broke up with me in college,” Scherz recalls. “I thought, ‘I can write a song about this.’ So I bought a guitar and learned how to play. That’s when I discovered how much I loved writing.”

Scherz always aimed for a non-traditional path, though he likely didn’t anticipate a multi-platinum songwriting career. His artist credits span Maddie & Tae’s “Girl in a Country Song,” Keith Urban’s “Boy Gets a Truck,” and the tracks featured in his live set, “The Songs Kenny Didn’t.”

John…

John Frinzi blends folk, pop, and country to deliver a sunny, laid-back beach vibe. His craftsmanship and originality caught the attention of legendary pedal steel guitarist Doyle Grisham of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, whose collaboration led to Frinzi’s debut album, “Into The Dawn.” His follow-up, “Shoreline,” highlights his vocal and songwriting versatility, featuring co-writes with Tom Corcoran—co-writer of the Buffett classics “Fins” and “Cuban Crime of Passion.”

Most recently, Frinzi teamed up with multi-platinum writer and producer Aaron Scherz to release the EP “Blue Sky View” alongside singles like “Florida Man,” all of which maintain a steady presence on SiriusXM’s Radio Margaritaville.

A seasoned touring artist, Frinzi has performed nationally, internationally across the Caribbean and Europe, and at major festivals including Musikfest, the Keith Sykes Songwriters Celebration, Key West Songwriters Festival, and Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival. He has shared the stage with acclaimed acts such as Jesse Winchester, Mac McAnally, Ricky Skaggs, The Coral Reefer Band, Todd Snider, and Maria Muldaur.

The Habitat is the private home of Ken and Heather Settlemyer who are passionate about the importance of nurturing both local plant and animal wildlife and independent musicians.

Habitat-PhotoLive Music & A Wildlife Sanctuary… The concept of the House Concert is to provide a venue where musicians can come to be heard by those whose primary intention is to listen rather than to have music in the background.

We host musicians to perform at The Habitat approximately one to two times per month, either on our outdoor stage, or on the indoor stage in the event of inclement weather or upon musician request.

We are also proud to maintain over 1/4 acre of wilderness within an urban environment, providing much needed habitat for a variety of native species.  We plant only native species and manage or eliminate the non native species in that area.  We are delighted to play host, not just to excellent musicians, but to a plethora of beautiful butterflies.

All Habitat concerts are private events. Contact us for an invite or follow our Facebook Page.

We are a not-for-profit venue. All donations go entirely to the artists, some of whom will have traveled from out of state!

BYOB and food to share is always welcomed, but not required.

We respect our neighbors and all noise ordinances and we time the concerts in consideration of both.

You are welcome to schedule a tour! We will be proud to show you our work in progress as we make a miniature wildlife preserve in the middle of Bradenton, a haven for bees, birds, bats, butterflies, and music lovers!

We sincerely hope you join us when you are able!

The Habitat has chosen Singing For Change as our official Charity!  We will now make available “The Habitat” branded items including the Singing For Change Logo with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the charity.
