About the Show…

Scott returns to the Habitat and will again be joined by Grammy Nominated Lew London – We hope you will make the time to join us for what we know will be a well attended and well received show this year!

About The Artists – Scott and Lew…

Scott:

Singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, traveler and road warrior are all words that aptly describe Scott Kirby. Finishing songs while driving through the Italian countryside, performing 100 plus live shows throughout the US and Canada, touring Ireland with 50 fans in tow, and recording his tenth album in Nashville, all keep the barnacles off this modern-day troubadour.

When it comes to songwriting, Kirby respects authenticity and counts on everyday life and his coastal roots for much of his inspiration. “I don’t wake up every day thinking about writing the next commercial hit,” says Kirby. “Songwriting for me is about telling stories, expressing emotions, and commentary on things I may find funny or absurd.” Over the years Kirby has shared the stage with some of his favorite artists: Carole King, Jimmy Buffett, Tom Rush, Mac McAnally, Darius Rucker, Livingston Taylor, Marty Stewart, Asleep at the Wheel and others.

When not on the road or performing in Key West, Kirby splits his time between Key West and the coast of Maine, where he can often be found sailing, a lifelong passion of this descendent of Newfoundland fishermen. He’s also recently discovered a little town in Southern France, where he plans to lay his head a month or two each year.

Lew:

Lew London is a multi instrumentalist, singer, composer with an eclectic range of musical tastes and a passion for traditional roots music and jazz. Lew has performed and toured the country since the early seventies. He has recorded with Grammy winners Steve Goodman, Mavis Staples and as a studio musician for many artists throughout his long career.

Lew was a candidate for Guitar Player Magazine’s guitar player of the year in 1977. Lew’s Philo/Rounder album “Swingtime in Springtime” met with sparkling reviews and is available in the USA and Japan. Lew participated in performance and production of “Singing Through the Hardtimes”, a tribute to Utah Phillips nominated for a grammy in 2010. Lew is also a live sound and recording engineer, producer and an Avid Certified Instructor for Pro Tools. He spent 18 years as Executive Director of Chartertech High School for the Performing Arts in Somers Point, NJ.

He lives in Florida and focuses on performing and recording music. Lew has accompanied Scott Kirby often during their 25+ year friendship. He performed, engineered, produced, and mixed Scott’s “Sol Searching” CD.
